It rains too much in Denmark.

The weather in Copenhagen is ridiculously unpredictable. Sometimes I just put on a T-shirt and jeans because it looks so sunny out, and then when I'm on the way home it drops to 16 degrees and starts to rain. Other days I drag a great stupid jacket around the whole day for nothing. I do actually have a nice waterproof windbreaker, but it takes up a lot of space and obviously I'm not going to bring it out if it doesn't even look like rain. Umbrellas are no use either, my friend's umbrella got blown inside out by the wind. I was never much of an umbrella person anyway.

Yesterday I was walking down the street and there was an old man in front of me, walking towards me. At the point where we passed each other, there was a very nice silver BMW. The old man suddenly said (in Danish, but when I said 'sorry?' he repeated it in English): "Do you know how much that car costs?" When I said no, he said triumphantly (in Danish again >_>): "One million (something) kroner!" and walked away. Yeah, I didn't get it either.

There are actually a lot of old people where I'm living. I heard that it was actually an old folks' residence but there were a lot of empty rooms so they started renting them out to international students. There is also a graveyard and a prison nearby. I want to go into the graveyard (this British girl said it's really nice) but my parents are like NO DON'T GO IN. I think I am probably in more danger from the laundry room actually. It's in one corner of the basement and the paint is peeling and there are cobwebs and dust in the corners and it smells horrible. The light is all yellow and when you go down you can see this long dark corridor stretching off into the distance. I will try and persuade my roommate to go wash clothes with me because I really don't want to be down there alone. Because I dislike dark, unknown, strange-smelling, enclosed spaces.

I bought an elephant for my bed because I have no bolster. I call him Theodore.

Tasks i have yet to accomplish:
1. Set up a Danish bank account
2. Buy a duvet (the nights are getting colder which sucks because this is only August I will probably have to buy one every month if the temperature keeps dropping like that).
3. Buy a full-length mirror. (Sorry this is very vain but I mean I need to know if I look retarded or not, especially when I am completely inexperienced at cold-weather dressing.)
4. Cook rice properly. I managed to cook some extremely soggy rice today but I didn't dare to leave it on the stove for too long in case it got burnt. Help, anybody?
5. Figure out how to use the washing machines/laundry room. There are instructions but they are all in Danish. I tried Google Translate but one seemingly crucial sentence came out as something like "Press the voters for elections to deteriorate" or something like that.
6. Get a Danish number.

This is Theo! I always wanted something called Theodore but it's too old-fashioned to name my kids with so I named my elephant that instead.
